Safeguarding & Online Safety
Safeguarding & Online Safety at LearnarooHub
LearnarooHub is a UK curriculum learning platform used by children, families and schools. The safety and wellbeing of children is our first priority. This page explains our commitments, points you to our full policies, and offers practical online-safety advice for families.
Report a safeguarding concern
If you are worried that a child is being harmed, is at risk of harm, or has been made to feel unsafe through our platform, tell us straight away. Email support@learnaroohub.com with "Safeguarding" in the subject line, marked for the attention of our Designated Safeguarding Lead, Humaira Ahmed. We aim to acknowledge safeguarding reports within 24 hours.
If a child is in immediate danger, call 999. You can also contact the NSPCC Helpline on 0808 800 5000, or Childline (for children) on 0800 1111.
Our safeguarding commitments
- Child-centred design — we design our service in the best interests of the child, in line with the ICO Children's Code.
- Data minimisation — child accounts hold only what is needed; pupils are identified by a username and we do not require a child's email address.
- Encryption — sensitive pupil and staff information is encrypted in transit and at rest.
- Access control — strict, role-based access means staff, teachers, parents and pupils only see what they are entitled to see.
- Accountability — administrative actions are recorded in a tamper-evident audit log.
- Safe content — learning content is curriculum-aligned and reviewed; we manage the online safety risks set out by the Department for Education.

Online safety: a guide for parents and carers
This guide is for information only — there is nothing to complete. Children learn best online when an adult takes a friendly, ongoing interest. You do not need to be a technology expert. The most protective things are simple: talk regularly, keep devices in shared spaces where you can, agree some family routines, and make sure your child knows they can come to you about anything they see online without getting into trouble.
Understanding the risks (the "4 Cs")
- Content — seeing things that are inappropriate, upsetting or misleading, including fake news. Talk about checking whether something is true.
- Contact — someone trying to contact your child who shouldn't. Remind them never to share personal details and to tell you about messages from people they don't know.
- Conduct — how your child behaves online: being kind, not oversharing, and understanding that things shared online can be hard to take back.
- Commerce — scams, in-app pressure and adverts. On LearnarooHub there is no advertising to children, but it is worth discussing these in general.
How LearnarooHub helps
- Your child only sees reviewed, curriculum-aligned content — there is no open web browsing.
- We do not show adverts to children and never use their data for marketing.
- Children's accounts are kept minimal, and sensitive information is encrypted.
- You can see your child's activity and progress through your parent/family dashboard.
Simple things you can do at home
- Agree screen-time routines and regular breaks; notice how your child seems after being online.
- Use the privacy and parental controls available on your child's devices and accounts.
- Have short, regular chats — "what did you do online today?" works better than one big talk.
- Make sure your child knows they will never be in trouble for telling you about something that worried them.
