Key Stage 2 · Science

Science

Science in Key Stage 2 spans biology, chemistry and physics. Children investigate living things and habitats, materials and their changes, and forces, light, sound, electricity and space — all through the working-scientifically approach the curriculum requires.

  • Biology: Plants & Ecosystems

Plants sustain all life. This topic covers plant structure, life cycles, and how living things depend on each other in habitats and food chains.

  • Biology: Animals, Humans & Skeletons

The body is an amazing system. This topic covers nutrition, skeletons and muscles, teeth and digestion, and the circulatory system.

  • Biology: Evolution & Inheritance

Life changes over time. This topic introduces evolution, adaptation and inheritance, and how fossils provide evidence of the past.

  • Chemistry: Rocks & Soils

The ground beneath us has a story. This topic covers types of rock, how soils form, and how fossils are made.

  • Chemistry: States & Properties of Matter

Matter changes around us constantly. This topic covers the three states of matter, changes of state, evaporation, condensation and the water cycle.

  • Physics: Light, Sound & Vibrations

Light and sound shape how we sense the world. This topic covers how light travels, shadows and reflection, and how sound is made and travels.

  • Physics: Forces & Magnets

Forces make things move and stop. This topic covers contact and non-contact forces, friction, gravity, air resistance, and magnetism.

  • Physics: Electricity & Circuits

Electricity powers modern life. This topic covers building simple circuits, conductors and insulators, and how switches and components work.

  • Physics: Earth & Space

We live on a moving planet. This topic covers the solar system, why we have day and night, and the movement of the Earth, Sun and Moon.

  1. Choose your focus

Start with a topic you are teaching, practising or revisiting. Follow the stage and subject links to change direction.

  2. Check the resource details

Look at the activity instructions, format and available learning tools. Protected activities check your current account access.

  3. Use the evidence thoughtfully

A download, submitted attempt and completion are different records. Review the available feedback before choosing what to do next.

A little help getting started

How should I choose a resource?

Use the topic and stage as a starting point, then read the individual resource instructions. Parents and pupils can ask a teacher for help choosing work that fits their current learning.

Why might a resource be unavailable?

The listings follow current resource visibility and account settings. Some activities require sign-in, a membership or another permission. Browse another topic or return to the learning library to explore.

What do the learning records tell me?

The tools and trackers depend on the resource. Opening a document is separate from submitting practice or recording completion, and none alone establishes mastery.
